How come you've been using "Argentum" for your secret spy name? There are commoner commoner names, you know.

[Like Aubumbrie or Hester.]

Oh.

[It's a satisfying answer and a warming one, too, that his name could be useful like that. It even worked that way with Dave, sort of--got him to tell Prompto "Tellus" was there. Prompto nods and bounces a little on his heels.]

You wanna keep using it? I don't mind. [He leans over and smiles up at Ignis.] It's kind of fun, actually. I always wanted a big brother, Telly.

Uh, the blond guy in red, right? Not recently! But he helped me out on the first day before I met back up with you guys. He seems cool.

[The fluff of Prompto's hair tilts to one side.]

Why do you ask?
photoshooter: (OHO? 📷 Wanna see?)

[FOOD. Prompto accepts the offering immediately, distracted for a delightful second before he looks back up.]

Heeey! You mean you don't care about the backstories of every character in Justice Monsters V? Iggy, you're killing me!

[He's kidding, though. He tries a bite of the bacon with happy, appreciative noises and an eventual thumbs-up, but minds Ignis's manners and doesn't speak again until he's swallowed.]

I didn't notice that we were that alike, though. I mean, beyond hair color. He's a lot... chiller than me? Even if he is younger.
photoshooter: (INHALE 📷 You guys...)

[Ignis always knows, somehow, how to gracefully turn away from Prompto's vulnerable moments, busy with plating breakfast while missing you catches him just under the ribs. It allows Prompto a second to stare, little plate in his hands, before he blinks and nods and pulls himself together again, crossing behind him to go get silverware.]

E-everyone likes your cooking, Iggy.

[A fork for each plate, arranged neatly along the side.]

It hasn't been that long. Two months, right? ...I guess it probably feels longer if you've just been stuck here the whole time.

[He taps Ignis's elbow lightly.]

Don't worry. I won't leave you guys hanging again, long as I can help it. I'm not going anywhere.
photoshooter: (EXHALE 📷 Are my best friends.)

[personal profile] photoshooter 2018-05-27 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
[Aw, Iggy. Prompto's hands still momentarily, then carefully rearrange the last fork, like there's some perfect angle to get right.]

No. Not really.

[There isn't really a way to spare Ignis those several bleak weeks between Altissia and now, not if he keeps asking, not if Prompto's going to answer honestly. He chews his lip a little and goes to search for mugs and glasses.]

We've been eating a lot of canned stuff and Cup Noodle. Nobody really needs my help with that.

[Nobody wanted his help with anything, either. But Ignis was always gracious about it, even though Prompto knew how awful it must have stung.]

But I can still set the table, like I told Iris back then. You remember that, in the car to Cape Caem? She noticed you did all the cooking, and all the... you know, everything for us.

[He sighs and picks some more at his little plate of hash.]

[Grateful, Prompto nudges his arm again.]

Heh, I bet. How do you find time to do anything else, with the hungry masses beating down your door three times a day? Just goes to show you a-meal to a wide audience.

[If disarming chatter is what Ignis craves, Prompto Argentum is here to deliver.]

Anything else I can do to lighten your load? I wouldn't trust me with anything more complicated than boiling water, but maybe, like, chopping, or... throwing out vegetable peels?

[GASP!]

Would I? You couldn't pay me not to!

[He can be useful and surrounded by majestic, fleet-footed birds!]

Should I wake Noct up, too, or does he not need his breakfast? [Mock-innocently:] I can need his breakfast for him.

Hold on, you're responsible for that too? That was a really good idea by the both of you! If I knew I was gonna be stuck here, I would've hit up the supermarket to stock up first.

Alright, I'm heading out now. How do I find you later?

Good afternoon,

My name is Clark Kent, and I'm recently arrived. I was told that you're handling a good portion of the farming supervision?

I was wondering if I could lend my assistance. I grew up on a family farm, so I'm familiar with growing most vegetables and with handling a variety of farm animals.

Obviously, if you've got everything covered, I don't want to be of any bother, but I thought I'd offer since it seems as if things are still in the processes of getting set up. Also, if I've got the wrong individual, I'm sorry to have bothered you.

Thank you.

Mr. Scientia,

You're welcome to call me Mr. Kent, or Clark, as you feel most comfortable.

I do have some concerns when it comes to field exhaustion and possible field rotation, as well as ensuring food safety and protecting the crop from potential natural threats. Perhaps we can meet and talk about plans for the preparation and maintenance of the fields for optimal food production sometime soon?

Though before I forget, a pleasure to make your acquaintance as well, sir.

Sincerely,
Clark Kent

[Prompto pauses in picking up the vegetable scraps, then smiles, a soft, crooked, grateful thing, and shakes his head.]

Aw, you know I don't eat that much. I'm sure some growing teenager will want it. We've got, like, a surplus.

Dear Mr. Scientia,

The basic theory of crop rotation is to prevent soil erosion as well as to keep from depleting nutrients from a given field of land. Different plants utilize different nutrients, so by planting a different crop in a different field for a different harvest, it gives the soil enough time to regain the nutrients lost from the last harvest or two so that it'll be just as good as it was the first time instead of slowly making the land unusable for a season or two of recovery. There are even some crops which can enrich the soil if the rotation is set up properly. With proper utilization of crop rotation, you can keep your yield high and the nutrient quality of the food produced consistently, as well as allow for the keeping of livestock, which can produce some of your best fertilizer. It also decreases the chance of an infestation taking hold, either of a blight or a pest, since the location of the different crops changes from year to year.

We also might want to look into finding certain kinds of microorganisms and certain plants that we can use to help protect the yielding crop, since we're obviously short of the traditional pesticides. Though obviously, given my experience, I know more about the organic methods than about using any of that.

I'd be happy to go over the specifics any time you like, and I'm never one to turn down a fine home cooked meal, especially in a place such as we are.

Looking forward to our meeting,
Clark Kent

Large, bipedal creatures, huh ... Uh, alright. I'll go over once I'm done.
